LABETTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a field on Sunday have made an arrest.
Just after 2:30p.m. Sunday, a man placed a 911 call after discovering the body later identified as 28-year-old Kylie Caldwell of Parsons in a field one half mile west of the intersection of 20000 Road and Ness Road in rural Labette County, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
On Monday the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the Labette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Parsons Police Department arrested 53-year-old Derrick W. Curry, 53, of Parsons, on requested charges for interference with the judicial process; to conceal or destroy evidence of a crime and he was booked into jail.
On Tuesday, KBI agents and investigators executed search warrants at Curry’s apartment at 2626 Kimball Avenue in Parsons, and on his vehicle.
On Wednesday morning an arrest warrant was issued for Curry for second-degree murder in connection to the death of Caldwell. It was served to him while he was in custody at the jail. Curry and Caldwell were acquaintances, according to the sheriff's office.
