JOHNSON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 4p.m. Saturday in Johnson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2029 Honda Ridgeline driven by Samuel Martin Franks, 80, Independence, Missouri, was westbound on Interstate 435 just east of Mission Road. The pickup traveled off the road to the right ditch, struck a crash attenuator, continued westbound, struck a sign post and came to rest in the north ditch.
Franks was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Johnson County Medical Examiners Office. He was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
