SEDGWICK COUNTY—One person died in an accident that occurred just after 5p.m. Thursday in Sedgwick County.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's Lt. Eric Slay reported, a Dodge Dart driven by 42-year-old Tiffany M. Jones (McKinney) of Wichita was eastbound on 29th Street North and failed to stop at the stop sign at 135th Street W.  A southbound  Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 26-year-old woman from Maize struck the Dodge.  The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway into the field southeast of the intersection.

Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene despite lifesaving efforts by EMS personnel, according to Lt. Slay.

EMS transported the other driver along with three child passengers (ages nine, six and four) to Wesley Hospital for for treatment of  serious injuries.

Deputies from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction team responded to assist with the investigation.  It was determined that Jones was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Lt. Slay. Impairment is not suspected.
