SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas woman accused in a knife attack that critically injured another woman made her first court appearance in the case Monday.
Amanda Dutcher, 28 of Wichita, is charged with aggravated battery, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Just after 7:30a.m. May 14, police responded to a report of a cutting at 12th and Broadway in Wichita, according to police spokesperson Brad Wright.
First responders found a 47-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. Police arrested Dutcher.
Police are still working to determine what led up to the stabbing. Dutcher and the victim apparently did not know each other, according to police.
Dutcher has previous convictions for theft and burglary, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections and had been released from state custody May 7. She is due back in court June 2 and remains jailed in Sedgwick County on a $200,000 bond, according to the District Attorney's office.
