TOPEKA—Governor Kelly attended the annual Statehouse Kwanzaa celebration on Monday.
On social media the Governor wrote, "The Kwanzaa celebration is a reminder of the hope and strength we can inspire in our communities by coming together. By lighting the kinara, we're reaffirming Kansas' commitment to the guiding principles and rich history of Kwanzaa."
The weeklong Kwanzaa holiday from Dec. 26 through Jan 1. celebrates African-American family, community and culture. Its origins are in the first harvest celebrations of Africa.
