
MONTGOMERY COUNTY —A driver avoided injury in an accident that occurred just before 5:30p.m. Thursday in the city of Independence, Kansas.
Emergence crews responded to Dairy Queen, 1325 N. Pennsylvania Avenue in Independence for vehicle that crashed into the building with the occupant reportedly trapped, according to a social media report from The Independence Fire Department and EMS.
The car traveled completely into the building, causing moderate structural damage. Crews made contact with the driver, who was able to exit the vehicle and declined transport by EMS.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Fortunately, no customers or employees inside the building were injured.
Independence Fire Department and EMS also reported, "for those wondering—there were no Dilly Bars injured in the incident."
