Sheriff: Kansas man jailed after threatening officers with weapon

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect after standoff at a Kansas home.

Just after 4 p.m. Friday, deputies were following up on a neighborhood complaint in the 1100 Block of SW Frazier in Topeka, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

While the officers were conducting follow-up, 44-year-old Cooper Rothschild pointed a weapon at officers then barricaded himself inside his home.

The Topeka Police Department's Response Team and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene. At around 11:38 pm the subject was taken into custody without incident. Rothschild was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and later transported to the Shawnee County on requested charges of Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer , Aggravated Battery and Felony Interference.
