RUSSELL COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 3p.m. Thursday in Russell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a  2022 Peterbilt straight truck driven by Anthony Joseph Moshier, 23, Hoisington, was northbound on 181st Street 3.9 miles west of the U.S. 40 and U.S. 281 Junction and stopped at the railroad crossing.

As the truck began moving forward, the driver did not see the westbound train.  The train collided with the truck.  The truck came to rest in the southwest corner of the crossing where it caught fire and was completely destroyed.

EMS transported Moshier to Russell Regional Medical Center. There were no injuries on the train. Moshier was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
