Sheriff: Kan. man jailed for alleged violent attack on woman

JUNCTION CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect after an alleged violent attack on a woman.

Just after 7a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the Geary Community Hospital after the report of a woman who had been shot and raped in the 9700 block of Quarry Road, according to a media release. Deputies also responded and secured the residence on Quarry Road where the incident allegedly occurred.

A Junction City Police Officer observed a suspect later identified as 36-year-old Darien Manning of Milford matching the description of the suspect at a residence in the 100 block of East 10th Street.Just after 9:30a.m., Geary County Deputies and Junction City Officers surrounded the residence, established contact with Manning and he was taken into custody without incident.

 Manning is being held requested charges of Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, Rape and Violation of a Protect Order.
