BEAVER COUNTY, Oklahoma—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a man who is on the faculty at a community college in Kansas for alleged child sex crimes.

On December 13, the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist with a sexual assault investigation involving a child, according to a meida release.

Special agents with the OSBI interviewed the child, who reported being sexually abused. Evidence was collected and the suspect, 48-year-old Andrew Nyles Lackey, was interviewed. Lackey is listed as a welding instructor at Seward County Community College, according to the school's web site.

Based on the information obtained during the investigation, officers arrested Lackey and booked him into the Beaver County Jail on a requested charge of Child Sexual Abuse.

The school suspended Lackey without pay following the arrest, according to a media release. He is also prohibited from campus and college activities.

“These charges are a serious concern, and we have taken this step in accordance with that,” stated SCCC President Brad Bennett in the release.
