BARTON COUNTY —A Kansas man died in an accident just before 4p..m. Wednesday in Barton County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Western Star semi driven by Francisco E. Martinez-Solano, 47, Bazine, was southbound on U.S. 281 one mile north of the Stafford/Barton County line.
The semi blew a left front steering tire crossed the center line into the path of northbound 2012 GMC Sierra driven by Gerald A. Hinson, 59, Great Bend.
The semi continued into the east ditch and rolled onto its side and the pickup came to rest in the east ditch.
Hinson was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported Bryant Funeral Home. EMS transported a passenger in the GMC Ryan James Kohman, 23, Great Bend, to the hospital in Great Bend. Martinez-Solano was not transported for treatment. Kohman was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
