Driver hospitalized after violent crash during Kan. police chase

LABETTE COUNTY —One person was injured in a crash during a police chase just before 10p.m. Thursday in Labette County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported law enforcement officers were in pursuit of a 1970 Chevy pickup driven by Randy E. Jackson, 50, Waco, Missouri, westbound at 24,080 Scott Road.

The pickup traveled off the road through the barb wire fence, a metal gate and continued across Scott Road. The vehicle struck the gate of a business and continued westbound into the parking lot where it struck a parked 2000 Ford pickup and overturned.

EMS transported Jackson to Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
