Police: Relative in custody for death of 72-year-old Kan. woman

JOHNSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a homicide and have taken a suspect into custody.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Oakview Street in Olathe for a death investigation, according to Police Sergeant John Moncayo.

Officers arrived and discovered an unresponsive 72-year-old woman with significant injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Due to information obtained, this case is being investigated as a homicide.

Police took a 40-year-old male relative into custody and placed on a 48-hour investigative hold. His name has not been released.
