BARTON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug allegations after a traffic stop.
Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy sheriff conducted a stop on a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation in the 1000 block of Parish Road in Great Bend, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.
During the course the traffic stop, officers became suspicious of illegal drug activity and Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx was deployed and indicated the presence of controlled substances.
Further investigation revealed a large quantity, approximately 1 pound, of suspected fentanyl. Methamphetamine, oxycodone as well as drug paraphernalia were also located inside the vehicle.
The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as 54-year-old Lisa Gomez of Sioux City, New Mexico.
Gomez was arrested and transported the Barton County Jail without incident where she was booked on requested charges of distribution of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, distribution of marijuana, possession of prescription narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of alcohol. Gomez is being held in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
