Fire Marshal IDs man who died in Kansas house fire

SHAWNEE COUNTY —   Authorities investigating a fatal house fire in Topeka have identified the victim as 65-year-old Michael J. Ullman, the only resident of the home, according to Fire Marshal Alan Stahl.

Just before 6a.m. Friday, crews responded to report of a house fire a 419 SE Rodgers Street in Topeka, according to Stahl.  First arriving crews found smoke coming from the home and quickly extinguished the fire. During a search of the home, firefighters found Ullman deceased.. There were no other occupants of the home.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.  The home did not have working smoke detectors, according to Stahl.
