
BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect for an alleged violent crime.
Just before noon Nov. 9, just before noon, police were dispatched to a residence in the 2500 block of McBride Parkway in Great Bend in reference to a domestic battery and a stolen vehicle, according to a media release.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who advised that she had been struck and choked by Jerome Maravilla, 67, who had left the residence in the victim's vehicle.
The victim's vehicle was located a short time later, and officers gained information that Maravilla was hiding inside of a detached garage. Maravilla was taken into custody and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of Aggravated Battery and Theft.
The Barton County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest.
