
KANSAS CITY —KCFD responded to a reported swift water rescue near 103rd and Wornall just before 1 p.m. on Monday, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

Crews found a woman approximately 50 to 75 yards off the bank grasping to a tree in fast flowing water.

Rescue crews utilized an inflatable rubber boat (IRB) to navigate their way through the flood water and retrieve the victim. She was brought to shore tired and shaken but uninjured. She was evaluated by on-scene EMS crews but refused further treatment or transport. Authorities did not release details on how the victim became trapped in the water.
