SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations after a high speed chase.
Just before 8:30 p.m. Jan. 7, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a stolen vehicle being pursued by Jefferson County on NW US 24 Highway, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
Our deputies responded and took over the pursuit as it entered Shawnee county. The driver of the U-Haul refused to stop and continued southbound on NW Topeka Boulevard. The pursuit ended when a K-9 Unit pinned the vehicle against a curb near SW 6th Street and SW Fairlawn Road.

During the investigation, illegal narcotics and numerous stolen items were located. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Lawrence.
The driver, Ranetta J. Jackson, 41, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections (SNDOC) on requested charges of Aggravated battery (3 counts), Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (6 counts), Felony possession of stolen property, Felony flee or attempt to elude law enforcement, Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Possession of marijuana , Possession of drug paraphernalia, Reckless driving, Failure to stop at an accident, Failure to stop at a stop sign, Transporting an open container of liquor, Driving while license suspended and Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
The passenger, Jeffrey Mitchell, 54, was also arrested and booked into the SNDOC on 10 felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
