KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces charges for a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month.

Rasheed M. Turner, 25, faces one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Armed Criminal Action, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor's office.

According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to W. 37th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on May 13 and located a deceased female victim in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near a parked Chevrolet Malibu.

Witnesses reported they heard gunshots and a woman screaming. Some reported seeing a male exit from the side of the Malibu and run to the driver side of a blue Ford Mustang.

Detectives were able to identify the defendant based on city cameras capturing his Ford Mustang near the scene, text messages exchanged with the victim, and social media.

The victim had a temporary order of protection against the defendant at the time of the shooting.

The defendant is being held without bond.
