CHEROKEE COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 8:30p.m. Wednesday in Cherokee County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Honda motorcycle driven by William J J Meiers-Vilmer, 36, Pittsburg, was northbound on SE 70th Street at SE Quakervale Road in Riverton.
The motorcycle rear-ended a 2015 Dodge Ram driven by Zachary T. Truster, 35, Baxter Springs, Kansas, who stopped in traffic waiting to turn left onto SE Quakervale Road.
EMS transported Meiers-Vilmer to Freeman Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Truster was not injured. Meiers-Vilmer was not wearing a. helmet, according to the KHP.
