Kan. man with previous robbery convictions accused of murder

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a shooting death have a Kansas felon in custody.

Just after 8a.m. April 19, police responded to a shooting in the 3700 Block of South Park Court in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Donna Eubanks.

They found 22-year-old Cody P . Cooper with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, police reported on Friday the arrest of 26-year-old Kavshun Jerome Boykin. He is being held on requested charges of murder in the first degree, aggravated burglary and theft.

Boykin has three previous convictions for robbery.
