Deputies seize firearm Kan. man used to threaten girlfriend, teen

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on multiple charges after a disturbance at a home involving a gun.

Just before 8:30p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance with a possible shooting in the 600 block of SW 57th Street in Shawnee County, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that a 31-year-old man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend. During the altercation, he brandished a firearm and shot into the ground.

The 31-year-old female victim and a 13-year-old child were located safe.

Deputies took Lance E. Fitzmaurice-Bridegroom, 31, of Topeka into custody and him booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threat, domestic battery, criminal threat against a law enforcement officer, criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

Deputies and detectives executed a search warrant on the residence and a firearm was seized.
