ATCHISON COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a Kansas felon on new allegations.
Just after 10a.m. Wednesday, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in the 800 block Laramie Street in the city of Atchison for a traffic violation, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson. The driver, 47-year-old George Lewis, was found to be in possession of controlled substances.]
Lewis was arrested and booked into jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, transporting an open container and failure to yield at a stop sign. Lewis has previous convictions for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and for evading a road block, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
