KANSAS CITY —One person died in an accident just before 3a.m. Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.
According to a preliminary investigation, an unidentified GMC SUV was eastbound on Interstate 670 at Southbound 71 at a high rate of speed in a traffic lane when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
The vehicle struck an impact attenuator at the gore point and then came to rest against a concrete bridge pillar. The vehicle caught fire following the crash. The sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police did not report the driver's name.
