DALLAS โOver the last 30 years, Dr Pepper has awarded over $17.5M in tuition to deserving students. The company is giving away more than anticipated this year. The showdown for tuition at halftime of the Big 12 championship, where two contestants throw footballs into a massive Dr Pepper cans, had a double overtime finish and ultimately a shootout.

It didn't end there. A few hours later Dr. Pepper announced that an on-field technical error was responsible for officials incorrectly breaking the tie. Anyone who knows how to count and was watching probably saw the mistake.
Dr. Pepper decided to give both finalists, Gavin from Ohio State and Ryan from Penn, the $100,000 tuition prize.
