SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on drug allegations

Just before 10:30a.m. December 5, a deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white 1996 Toyota Avalon with an expired license plate near NE Twiss Avenue and NE Sardou Avenue, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, a K-9 Unit assisted and illegal narcotics were located. The passenger, Daniel L. Carpenter, 61, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
