SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on drug allegations

Just before 10:30a.m. December 5, a deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white 1996 Toyota Avalon with an expired license plate near NE Twiss Avenue and NE Sardou Avenue, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, a K-9 Unit assisted and illegal narcotics were located. The passenger, Daniel L. Carpenter, 61, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of&nbsp;Possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
