LEAVENWORTH COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after noon Friday in Leavenworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Gary W. Story, 83, Tonganoxie, was westbound on U.S. 24 at Stone Creek Drive.
The driver disregarded a red left turn arrow and proceeded to make a left turn. An eastbound 2019 GMC Sierra driven by Danielle R Herring, 38, Tonganoxie, and the Grand Caravan collided in the intersection.
Story was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported a passenger in the van Edris S. Welsh, 81, Tongnoxie, to KU Medical Center. Herring was not transported for treatment.. Story was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
