KWU women's tennis picks up 6-1 win over Friends

Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis picked up a 6-1 win over the Friends Falcons on Saturday at the Salina Country Club.

The Coyotes improved to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the KCAC with the win heading into Thursday's match with Tabor at Central High School.

KWU claimed two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, and won five of the six singles flights.

In doubles, Karley Benson (SO/Salina, Kan.) and Michaela Crowe (FR/Overland Park, Kan.) beat Nikolett Krivek and Sydney McGrown 6-0; and Brianna Mendoza (JR/Balch Springs, Texas) and Makenzie Archer (FR/McPherson, Kan.) beat Hanna Wood and Victora Oshakuade 6-1. Friends got a win as Ariel and Jazzmyn Williams beat Zofia Selwesiuk (SO/Wroclaw, Poland) and Savannah Noel (SO/Portis, Kan.) 6-4.

KWU claimed wins in five of the six singles flights. Crowe beat Ariel Williams 6-2, 6-0; Selwesiuk beat McGrown 6-0, 6-0; Archer beat Jazzmyn Williams 6-1, 6-3; Mendoza beat Wood 6-1, 6-1; and Noel beat Oshakuade 6-2, 6-0. Friends got the lone point as Krivek beat Benson in a three set thriller 6-4, 3-6, 11-9.
