Police: Porch pirates caught on camera are in a Kansas jail

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a report of porch pirates have made arrests.

On Thursday afternoon, Maize Police with assistance from the Wichita Police Department arrested two individuals in connection with recent thefts of packages in the Wichita metropolitan area and recovered several pieces of property believed to have been taken in the thefts, according to a media release.

The suspects in the thefts were a white male and female driving a gray BMW 5 series with the Kansas tag 966RYP.  According to online jail records the suspects are identified as 18-year-old Audrey French and 19-year-old Gavin Shaffer. 

They are being held on requested charges of aggravated burglary, possession of stolen property and theft.

Just after 6p.m. August 3, the individual seen in security camera images took packages left on the porch of a residence in the 11000 block of West Sondra in the city of Maize, according to a social media report from police.
