Kansas gas station employee shot man after altercation, attack

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a 28-year-old man.

Just before 1:30a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting at gas station in the  the 700 block of North Broadway in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

First responders found an employee of the business rendering aid to the suspect. The man had two gunshot wounds to his upper body. EMS transported the suspect to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

The investigation revealed the suspect had a verbal altercation with two employees of the business after he was asked to leave the premises. The suspect refused to leave and began physically attacking the two employees.

One of the employees produced a handgun and fired at the suspect after the suspect begin to attack him a second time. The victims are fully cooperating with the detectives, according to Rebolledo.
