KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.
Just after 9:30a.m. Monday, patrol officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of East 29th Street in Kansas City on a reported disturbance involving an individual armed with a weapon, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
When officers arrived the subject in question had fled the scene. As officers were investigating several other calls for service were received in the area reporting the same individual involved. Additional officers responded to the scene to canvass the area.
At about 10a.m., at 27th and Askew, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS responded to the scene and declared the individual deceased, according to DiMartino.
Preliminary investigation revealed it was the same person involved in the previous incidents. This is being investigated as a homicide. A subject of interest was taken into custody pending further investigation. Police, at this time, are not looking for any additional suspects. Investigators are working to determine what led up to shots being fired. Crime scene technicians are gathering all available physical evidence and any possible surveillance footage.
