SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a pair of weekend shootings in Topeka.
Just after 11:30a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the report of shooting in 1700 block of SE 31st Street in Topeka, according to Lt. Shane Hilton. Upon arrival, officers found that a 13-year-old girl suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. This incident is being investigated as a possible accidental shooting.
Just after 9:30p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the 700 block of SE Hackberry on the report of a shooting, according to Hilton. Upon arrival, Officers found a 15-year-old boy who was suffering from non-life-threatening wounds to his arm. The victim was uncooperative with the police investigation.
The investigation continues on both incidents. They are not related to one another, according to Hilton.
