SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting that injured a 44-year-old woman.
Just before noon Saturday, police were dispatched to report of a shooting in the 1800 Block of N Piatt in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.
Officers located a 44-year-old woman sitting inside her parked vehicle with two gunshot wounds to her upper legs. Officers immediately provided life-saving measures to the victim.
EMS then transported her to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She underwent surgery, and was reported in stable condition Saturday night, according to Rebolledo.
Investigators are working to fully determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. This was not a random incident; the victim and suspect know each other.
