Kan. woman accused of DUI in crash that killed teen on motorcycle

COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal July 4 head-on crash that killed a Kansas teen have made an arrest.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Chevy Traverse driven by   Kaitlyn Michelle Keeling, 26, Belle Plaine, was westbound in the 11000 block of 82nd Road just before 10p.m. on Saturday.

The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 1982 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Chase Edward Augur, 18,  Augusta head-on, according to Cowley County Sheriff Dave Faletti.

Augur was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Miles Funeral Home.

The sheriff’s office conducted standard field sobriety tests on Keeling who was not injured in the crash, according to Faletti.

Deputies arrested her on a requested charge of Driving Under the Influence and she was transported to the Cowley County Jail.  She posted a bond of $1,000.00 Saturday night same night and was released, according to Faletti.
