FINNEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and have made an arrest.
On Friday, police responded to St. Catherine Hospital for a report of a gunshot wound victim, according to a media release.
Officers learned that a man with a gunshot wound had been brought to the hospital by 20-year-old David Oliver of Garden City. The investigation revealed that a verbal argument occurred between Oliver and the victim at Oliver’s residence in the 900 block of N. 9th Street in Garden City.
Following the argument, Oliver was handling a firearm while intoxicated when the firearm discharged and struck the victim. The victim was flown to Wichita due to the extent of his injuries.
Police arrested Oliver on requested charges of Aggravated Battery, Criminal Discharge of Firearm, and Interference with law enforcement; falsely report a felony intending to obstruct, according to online jail records.
