HAMILTON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 10a.m. Friday in Hamilton County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Nissan Frontier driven by Robert James Arellano, 75, Garden City, was westbound on U.S. 50 approximately eleven miles west of Kansas 27. The Nissan crossed over the center line, sideswiped an eastbound 2008 Chevy Silverado in the eastbound lane. After impact, the Nissan continued toward the southwest, colliding twice with a guard rail.
Arellano was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Fellers Funeral Home. The driver of the Silverado Garcia Arturo Cacique, 29, Syracuse, and a 64-year-old passenger were not injured despite not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
