14-year-old accused of killing two Kansas teens

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly shooting and have made an arrest.

Just after 11:45p.m. Friday the Wichita Police Department responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of 5200 E Kensington in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

Around the same time, officers were dispatched to an area hospital for the report of two walk-in shooting victims.

Emoni Shears, 14, and Jhiquez Roberts, 19, both of Wichita were later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Detectives and patrol officers immediately began investigating this case and following up on leads. Later Saturday, police arrested a 14-year-old from Wichita on requested charges of felony murder and one count of juvenile in possession of a firearm.

Homicide investigators continue their work to determine what led to this tragic shooting. The investigation has led police to believe that all parties involved in this incident knew each other and were meeting at the location of the shooting.
