BARTON COUNTY — Just after 10:30 p.m. Aug. 14, police conducted a traffic stop near 2500 block of Railroad Avenue in Great Bend for a traffic infraction, according to a media release.
During the traffic stop, K9 Menta was
deployed to conduct a free air sniff, where she alerted to the presence of
illegal narcotics.
While searching the vehicle, officers located approximately 37 grams of a
methamphetamine/fentanyl mix, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The driver
of the vehicle, John Wilkinson, 60, was placed under arrest on requested charges of distribution of methamphetamine/fentanyl, possession of marijuana and
possession of drug paraphernalia. Wilkinson was transported to the Barton
County Jail where he was booked in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
The following morning, police served a search warrant in the 700 block of Jefferson Street based on the traffic stop. Investigators found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
