SHAWNEE COUNTY—A firefighter was injured fighting a house fire Wednesday in Topeka.
Just after 11a.m. Wednesday, crews responded to a reported fire at a home at 726 SW Clay Street in Topeka, according to spokesperson Rosie Nichols.
They found smoke and flames coming from the two-story residence. As crews were working to suppress the fire, a firefighter fell through the floor. The firefighter was treated on scene for minor injuries. Crews were able to extinguish the fire.
All occupants were able to exit safely. No other injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not released a damage estimate or additional information.
