Man injured in lightning strike at rodeo arena died

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. —A man injured in a lightning strike in Johnson County, Missouri has died, the city reported Monday.

Just after 11p.m. Friday, emergency services responded to the Holden Chamber of Commerce Rodeo at the City of Holden Park, 311, East 10th Street, after a report of a person struck by lightning in the parking area.

The person struck was identified as 53-year-old man. EMS transported him from the scene and he later died of his injuries. 

Holden is located approximately 50 miles southeast of Overland Park, Kansas.
