A significant fire occured at the Ridge of Salina apartments on Wednesday afternoon, as the investigation is ongoing within first responders to determine the cause of fire.
Salina Fire Department Chief, Shane Pearson stated the fire occurred in the attic of one of the apartment buildings at around 3:00 pm. The interior of the building had significant amounts of smoke and water damage.
Supervisor of the apartments, Edwin Rodriguez said nobody was injured and everyone is safe.
"We followed protocol and the maintenance guys did their job," he said. "Thank God nobody was hurt."
Pearson also confirmed there were no reported injuries.
A resident who lives across from the building that was on fire stated they were simply relaxing inside their room, when they looked out to their window and suddenly saw the fire.
That same resident made the call at around 3:00 pm to let first responders know about the fire.
According to Fire Marshal, Joe Kvacik an investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of fire, which could be known by Thursday.
