SEDGWICK COUNTY—A man accused in the child abuse death of his son will be back in court Friday.

Devin Bemis, 33, is scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing before Judge Kevin Smith, according to Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office. On January 26, Bemis was arrested on child abuse allegations and he was later charged with first-degree murder.

Bemis allegedly abused his 5-month-old son and another child under the age of six, according to court documents. The 5-month-old died  in April.

The judge will decide if there is enough evidence to move the case forward.
