Cyber tip led to arrest of Kansas man for alleged child sex crimes

LABETTE COUNTY –The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Labette County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Edna man for alleged child sex crimes.

On Monday, July 7, around 12 p.m., KBI agents and the Labette County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old David Stevens, of Edna, at the Labette County Sheriff’s Office. Stevens was arrested for six counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

The KBI Child Victims Unit began investigating after a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in March. On June 2, KBI agents and deputies from the Labette County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence located at 215 N. Marks Ave., in Edna.

 Stevens is being held in the the Labette County Jail without bond.
