Sheriff: Kansas bank robbery suspect captured at motel

MORRIS COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities including the FBI conducted an intensive investigation Wednesday a man accused in  the robbery at Bank of the Flint Hills, 101 E MacKenzie Street in White City, according to the Morris County Sheriff.

Just after 10p.m. Wednesday, police captured 35-year-old Christopher J. Callaham of Junction City at a motel in Junction City.

Just after 10a.m. Wednesday, a man with a handgun and wearing a mask entered the Bank of the Flint Hills and demanded money from a clerk, according to the Morris County Sheriff's office.

The man was described as a white male with dark colored hair. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown boots. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and ran into a residential neighborhood south of the bank.

Officers from Council Grove and deputies from the Morris County Sheriff's office began searching for the suspect. School in White City were placed on lockdown.  There were no injuries reported at the bank.

Callaham is being held in Geary County on a felony arrest warrant for aggravated robbery and  two additional requested drug charges, according to online booking records.
