65-year-old overcome by fire at Kansas City home

KANSAS CITY —One person died in a house fire Saturday in Kansas City.
Just after 11:30p.m. Saturday, crews responded to a reported house fire in the 1600 block of Bristol, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

Crews reported heavy fire from a two-story occupied residence on arrival.  Reports of two occupants were made by the initial caller. One occupant was able to escape. A second occupant, a 65-year-old immobile occupant, was unable to escape and was overcome by the fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving occupant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.  Officials released no additional details including the name of the man who died and a possible cause of the fire.
