ELLIS COUNTY —A 16 year-old was killed in a rollover accident southwest of Hays in the early morning hours Saturday.
The accident was reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. near 230th Avenue and Spring Hill Road, according Ellis County Sheriff Scott Braun.
The teen was one of four teenagers in the car that left the roadway and rolled. The 16-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Braun.
A second passenger was transported to the emergency room, treated and has been released.
"Alcohol was suspected to be Involved, but deputies will await lab reports before issuing any further details,” Braun said.
Braun added, "It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news of losing a teenager from our community in a devastating accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
