SEDGWICK COUNTY —The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting police looking into the multiple hoax calls claiming there were active shooters at schools across Kansas Wednesday, according to Officer Chad Ditch of the Wichita Police Department.

Police in nearly a dozen communities including Topeka, Lawrence, Wichita, El Dorado, Junction City, Manhattan, Wellington, Liberal, Russell, Garden City and Colby responded to the hoax calls about the active shooters at schools.
Most law enforcement immediately identified the calls as swatting but police swiftly responded and schools were placed on lockdown. There were no injuries at any of the schools.
