KCPD: Sunday shooting victim dies at the hospital

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim as 23-year-old Michael G. Weintraub, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

Just before midnight Sunday, police were dispatched to shooting at a convenience store in the 2900 block of Van Brunt, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.

Upon arrival officers did not locate a victim but located evidence of a possible crime scene. Just after midnight a call was received from a local hospital that a shooting victim arrived by private vehicle. The victim, later identified as Michael G. Weintraub was suffering from life threatening gun shot wounds. Investigators and crime scene personnel responded to both scenes and were able to determine he was shot in the 2900 block of Van Brunt, and that both shooting calls were related. 

Just after 2a.m. Monday, officers were notified Weintraub died of his injuries at the hospital. This is now being investigated as a homicide, and homicide detectives have taken over the case, according to DiMartino. The name of the victim has not been released.
