Theft suspect caught traveling 100mph on Kansas highway

JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a traffic stop.

Just before 7:30 p.m. June 10, a Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle on U.S. 75 north of Holton for allegedly speeding over 100 mph, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

The driver, Deandre Lamont Murphy, 38, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of a controlled substance, driving without a valid driver’s license, and cited for speeding.

Additionally, computer items were seized from the vehicle that were suspected to be stolen. The matter remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
