BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new drug charges after an arrest,

Just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a patrol sergeant with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 10 block of Southwest 110 Avenue for a traffic violation, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

The occupant of the 1997 Chevrolet Venture was identified as Corban Cale, age 30 of Pawnee Rock.

The sergeant became suspicious of drug activity and the Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx and handler were called to the scene. Maxx alerted to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed Cale was in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia as well as items used to distribute methamphetamine.

Cale was arrested without incident and transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond
